Efforts on to lift Cusat to IIT standards: Baby

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government is trying to win Central assistance to upgrade the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) into an institution comparable to the Indian Institutes of Technology in academic standards and facilities, Education Minister M.A. Baby has said.

Replying to a ‘calling attention’ from K. Babu in the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr. Baby said, “Our view is that the facilities of a National Institute of Technology (NIT) are not enough for Cusat. It should be developed to the levels of IITs.”
