Letters to the Editor
This refers to the article “The Congress party’s last chance” (July 8). As rightly pointed out by the author, the Congress should utilise the lifeline — the support provided by the Samajwadi Party — to strengthen the centrist forces. The Congress-led UPA government has given a reasonably good account of itself in the last four years. With the spectre of communal forces regaining power looming large, the Congress should shed its complacency and defeatist mindset. J. Anantha Padmanabhan, Srirangam Col. C.V. Venugopalan (retd.), Palakkad Kasim Sait, Chennai
