Corrections and clarifications

The last paragraph in a New York Times report “A different night of fashion at the United Nations for them” (“Newscape” page, July 5, 2008) was “The culture shock was not lost on the former scavengers, either, such as Usha Chaumar, 34, who comes from Alwar, Gujarat ….” Alwar is in Rajasthan.

In a tennis report “Williams sisters promise final feast” (“Sport”, July 5, 2008), the first paragraph said “An all-Williams Grand Slam final looms at Wimbledon on Saturday for the first time since the 2005 U.S. Open and with it the question of how motivated and keen one sister is to beat the other”, while the accompanying graphic gave their last encounter as Wimbledon 2003. The graphic is right.

The scorecard in a cricket report “Massive win for Pakistan” (“Sport”, July 5, 2008) gave the name of Bangladesh’s opener as T. Younis. It should have been T. Iqbal. (The report was on a STAR Cricket Asia Cup semi-final.)
