This Day That Age
The next move of the Pakistan Government on the Kashmir issue is reported to be to give an ultimatum to the United Nations Security Council demanding the solution of the dispute “within a specified period.” The ultimatum would also tell the world body that if it failed to find a solution within the specified period, Pakistan would be free to take any action – peaceful or otherwise – against India to settle the dispute. A report from Rawalpindi published in the local Press on July 7 quoting highly reliable sources said that the Pakistan Government’s latest move was conveyed on July 6 by the Pakistan President’s Private Secretary, Mr. Shahab to Chaudhri Ghulam Abbas, leader of the “Kashmir Liberation Movement” at present lodged in the Rawalpindi Central Jail.
