An evening for children to sing along

Staff Reporter

Passes are priced at Rs. 100 and Rs. 200

They are available at Cosmos Mall and at Blossom Book House

Bangalore: Children can look forward to dance, music and enjoyment in the coming week as Krishna Iyer and her troupe of performers bring to Bangalore the Children’s Theatre Fest.

On July 11, Ms. Iyer and others will be entertaining children with a series of programmes at The Good Shepherd Auditorium (Residency Road-Museum Road junction) at 7 p.m.

Professionals

It will feature a troupe of professional entertainers accompanied by musician and storyteller Jeeva Raghunath, who will be leading many reputed performers including The Jumping Jelly Beans, a group from Malaysia involved with theatre for special children.

First time in town

After 13 years of their “sing-along” music extravaganzas in Chennai, the Children’s Theatre Fest is coming to Bangalore for the first time.

“Over the years, “sing-along” has become a time and place where children can be at their natural best and their parents and teachers can lose their inhibitions and be children once more,” says Ms. Iyer, a child development specialist involved in pre-school education forums in India and abroad.

Through the programmes on Friday, they hope to entertain children, parents, grandparents, teachers or “anyone who is a child at heart” with well-remembered pieces like “Zelda the Zebra” and “Luminous Snake”. The Children’s Theatre Fest is being held under the banner of the Sunjaya Sukriti Foundation Trust, a non-profit group, and the twin-event is in aid of Reach Out, a non-government organisation working with children suffering abuse.

The donors’ passes for the July 11 show are priced at Rs. 200 and Rs. 100.

They are available at Cosmos Mall (Kundlahalli – ITPL Road, Ph: 64528945) and Blossoms Book House (Church Street, Ph: 25320400, 25550733). Call 9448949800, 9448389511 for more details.
