Staff Reporter

PUDUKOTTAI: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has urged the State Government to set up a cashew processing industry for farmers of Gandarvakottai.

A resolution adopted at its district executive meeting held recently urged the Centre to check the spiralling rise in prices of essentials. Otherwise, it should step down. The meeting pleaded for ensuring safety Indian fishermen while at sea. Referring to frequent incidents of firing on Indian boats and arrest of fishermen by Sri Lankan forces, the resolution urged the Centre to impress upon the Lankan government to revise the boundary of the Kutch.

Resolutions pleading for restoration of Parliamentary constituency status for Pudukottai, uninterrupted power supply in and around Gandarvakottai were also adopted. The district president Shahabudin presided.
