‘Amendment for SC classification not easy’

HYDERABAD: Former Union Minister and AICC Scheduled Caste department chairman Yogendra Makwana has said that a parliamentary amendment to categorise the Scheduled Castes was not an easy task.

Replying to a query on the Congress’ stand on the classification at a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Makwana said that though he was not opposed to classification there were practical problems associated with bringing in an amendment in Parliament. “The cobbler community is very strong and developed in North India, while they are not so in the South,” he said.
