Man takes out ‘supari’ on wife
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: A husband allegedly took out a supari on a woman who was attacked in her home Monday night. Tilaknagar police said that Dhanalakshmi was set upon by two men who fled after stabbing her on Monday night.
The police said they suspect it to be the handiwork of her husband, Mohan, who is lodged in Bangalore Central Prison, facing trial for the murder of Manikanta, who used to be his assistant at his finance office, last year.
They said that Mohan wanted Dhanalakshmi to transfer the house she owned in Bhavaninagar to his name. Dhanalakshmi had reportedly given the house on lease and was living near her sister Poornima’s house in Tilaknagar. Mohan was regularly calling her, pressuring her to give up house. A few days ago he had allegedly sent a person to assault her.
On Monday night, Dhanalakshmi was in the house and her sister was visiting. Two persons came in a motorcycle and asked her to open the door. The men, who claimed to have been sent by Mohan, threatened her, telling she has to turn the house over to Mohan. When she refused, they stabbed her.
The police described Dhanalakshmi’s condition as serious. From her bed in Victoria Hospital, she told police her attackers were her husband’s friends.
A case has been registered against Mohan and his associates.
