COIMBATORE: Corporation Bank has launched Corp Compassion, a savings bank account campaign in which the bank will donate Rs.10 to the needy for every account opened. Deputy General Manager of the bank for Coimbatore Zone S. Pattabiraman told presspersons here on Monday that the zone had 54 branches and planned to open 45,000 accounts here during the 100-day campaign, starting from July 1. During the last seven days the zone saw 5,000 new accounts opened as part of this campaign. FacilitiesCustomers would enjoy all the facilities available to savings bank account customers, such as SMS banking, mobile banking, utility bill payment and mobile recharge. Apart from these, accounts opened under Corp Pragathy (no frills account), Corp New Gen (for students), Corp Classic (an auto sweep account) and Corp Payroll (zero balance for employees) during the campaign period would also be covered. Mr. Pattabiraman said a similar campaign was organised by the bank last year and 3.6 lakh new accounts were opened in different parts of the country. The “compassion amount” was distributed to 50 charitable institutions. The bank had also launched “New Corpgain”, a term deposit scheme. He said Coimbatore zone would get 11 new branches this year and six of these would be opened before August. It would also open 13 ATMs in this zone. As on June 30, the bank had achieved a total business of Rs. 2,953 crore in this zone.
