Ex-constable, wife held for ‘cheating’

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A former police constable, Topil Babu Bense, 29, and his wife, T.B. Flory, 27, who were allegedly duping people with false assurances of securing jobs, were arrested on Tuesday.

A constable of Adilabad district police, Bense deserted the force three years ago. Later, he shifted to the city and was living in Malakpet with his wife. The couple used to approach persons withdrawing money from ATM centres, claiming that their relative was in hospital.

They would thus gain the sympathy of unsuspecting persons with concocted stories and befriend them. Claiming that they had connections with influential people, the couple then used to collect money from gullible persons by assuring them of securing jobs in LIC and the railways and disappear.
