DGP’s surprise visit to police station

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Policemen on night duty at the Ashoknagar police station had a surprise visitor on Monday night that may have even kept the officials on tenterhooks for some time. For, Director-General and Inspector-General of Police R. Srikumar, who returned from New Delhi on Monday night, decided to visit the station around 11.30 p.m. taking the officials on duty by surprise.

At the police station, coming under Central Division, the DGP is said to have reviewed the performance of the e-beat system, and reportedly directed the officials to submit a study report on the system and strengthen it. He also instructed officials to take steps to ensure a marked decrease in the crime rate.

Mr. Srikumar told The Hindu that he would take up more such visits to ensure that the police machinery works well for the people.
