Kamaraj, E.V.R. Periyar and C.Rajagopalachari. They have held the position of municipal chairman at different local bodies. The leaders’ photographs, accompanied by their handwritten messages, were on display at the renovated office building of the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration (CMA) at Chepauk on Tuesday. After inaugurating the office renovated at the cost of Rs.98 lakh, Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin visited various sections in the building. He also unveiled the photographs of the political leaders that formed part of the photo gallery. While K. Kamaraj was the municipal chairman of Virudhunagar between 1941 and 1942, E.V.R. Commissioner of Municipal Administration Niranjan Mardi said the work to refurbish the office with modern work stations for the staff members, including computerised network and internet, was taken up in 2007. The Public Works Department and Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation had carried out the project to enhance the working environment of the municipal administration personnel. Besides two visitors’ halls, a library and a dining hall have also been provided for the benefit of the staff members, he said.
