KOLLAM: The new Deputy Mayor of Kollam Corporation will be elected on July 17. District Collector A. Shajahan issued the notification on Wednesday. It was the wrangle between the district units of the CPI and the CPI(M) which led to the Deputy Mayor’s post falling vacant. The incumbent Veliyam Rajan resigned when the CPI decided that all its twelve councillors in the LDF-ruled Corporation would sit with the Opposition.
