dated July 10, 1958: Soviet criticism

Mr. Nikita Khrushchev told delegates of the Youth Congress of India in a statement published on July 8 that the United States was giving arms and economic aid to Pakistan in the hope she would threaten India. The Soviet news agency Tass reporting the Prime Minister’s remarks in Moscow on July 3, said Mr. Khrushchev also declared that Russia, unlike America, ‘loved India’. “Please do not get the idea that we are coming out against the United States. We have great respect for every people and every State, large or small. We advocate the enforcement of the principles of peaceful co-existence.”
