“No obstacles in setting up Central projects”

KOLKATA: The West Bengal government does not foresee any obstacles in the setting up of Central projects in the State because of the withdrawal of support by the Left parties to the UPA government.
Federal set up
There should be no problem as in a federal set up, the political party in power at the Centre may not be in power in a State.
“However, it will be unfortunate if the Centre creates any problems,” the State’s Industries Minister, Nirupam Sen, said here on Wednesday.
These projects include a petroleum, chemicals and petrochemical investment region (PCPIR) in the State. A proposal to set up the PCPIR at Nayachar Island had been sent to the Centre for approval, he said.
The proposed deep-sea port that will require an environmental clearance from the Centre is to be set up by private developer, Mr. Sen added.
