HUDA asked to mark lake boundaries
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: The Forum for Sustainable Development (FSD) has requested HUDA to mark boundaries of Full Tank Level and 30 metre width buffer zone all around Durgam Cheruvu Lake, irrespective of the ownership of the land.
This should be in accordance with the Land-use plan of approved Master Plan 2020 to avoid recurrence of the encroachments. The FSD has also requested HUDA to restore green belt and the area affected in the vicinity of the lake during laying of the road by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) in April, 2008.
On the clarification given by the APIIC, that was published on July 8, the FSD pointed out that the road work by the APIIC was stopped only after it had filed a Writ Petition in the High Court and the Division Bench asked HUDA to take action against the road work.
The FSD was happy that APIIC had assured to implement directions given by HUDA’s Heritage Committee in May and also take care of the natural rock formations surrounding the lake, a statement by FSD Secretary S. Jeevananda Reddy said.
