Maoists make their presence felt
Correspondent
MAHABUBNAGAR: Maoists shocked the police by proving that they still existed in the district, which was declared a “Maoist-free district”, over six months ago, by gunning down one person and injuring another with a tapancha on Tuesday night around 10 p.m. at Marikal village of Pedda Kothapally mandal.
The Maoists came to the house of an RMP, Niranjan, and enquired about his whereabouts with Azim, son-in-law of Niranjan, who was standing in front of the house. When Niranjan came out of the house they opened fire. Azim who tried to resist them sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot. The Maoists again shot at Niranjan due to which he sustained bullet injuries on his left shoulder. Niranjan was shifted to a private corporate hospital at Mahabubnagar.
