Athletes to be honoured

KANNUR: Twenty-four athletes from the district who secured medals in various national athletic meets through the Kannur District Association during 2007-08 and eight athletes who represented India in various international meets will be honoured at a function here on July 12.

Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy will inaugurate the function to be held at District Sports Council Hall here at 10 a.m.

Organisers of the function said that former patrons and office-bearers of the association and personalities, institutions and sponsors who made contributions to the promotion of athletics in the district would also be remembered in connection with the golden jubilee celebration of the association.
