BHUBANESWAR: Five villagers were injured, three of them seriously, when a sloth bear made its way into houses of Darlipada village in Nuapada district, about 600 km from here on Thursday. Straying away from nearby village in the early morning, the bear started attacking villagers. After a lot of efforts the villagers managed to confine it inside a panchayat office and called forest officials. However, forest officials could not capture the bear. As soon as the bear slipped out from the panchayat office, it again attacked villagers who were gathering there. Enraged over the incident, villagers attacked forest officials. Three of the villagers were admitted to district headquarter hospital.
