Rajasthan discoms’ special power drive

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: Power distribution companies in Rajasthan will launch a special drive next month to provide agricultural electricity connections in large numbers after completing the feeder renovation campaign.

State Energy Secretary and Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Chairman and Managing Director Shrimat Pandey said at a video-conference meeting of discoms here that all arrangements should be made in advance for releasing new connections and removing bottlenecks.

Continuous supply

The chairman of the three discoms in the State, R.G. Gupta, underlined the need to maintain continuous power supply to the rural areas and said the discoms would prepare estimates for releasing connections to the consumers whose demand notices have been deposited.

Mr. Gupta suggested that a “Bijli Chaupal” (electricity congregation) be organised in the villages once every week to achieve the target of releasing 2.5 lakh domestic power connections in the rural areas.
