63 polling stations proposed in Haveri district

Number of polling booths in district now is 1,077

District administration preparing final list


HAVERI: The Haveri district administration proposes to set up 63 new polling stations in the district after taking up reorganisation of the booths following the directive of the Election Commission (EC) of India. The EC had given consent for setting up 33 auxiliary polling stations during the recent Assembly elections. But after it began the process of reorganisation, the district administration felt the need the need to set up 30 more polling stations. The district administration has finalised a draft proposal on setting up of new polling stations, and it has been published. With the creation of new polling stations, the total number of polling stations in Haveri district will incresse to 1,140 from the present 1,077. The district administration is in the process of preparing the final list, and Deputy Commissioner P.S. Vastrad held a meeting in this regard on Wednesday.
