COIMBATORE: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University will confer D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) on Ratan N. Tata, chairman, Tata Group of Companies, Mumbai, at the university’s 29th convocation on July 25. M. Ramasami, managing director, Rasi Seeds Private Limited, Attur, and Bhavarlal Hiralal Jain, chairman, Jain Irrigation Systems Limited, Maharashtra, will also receive the honorary doctorate degrees, according to a university release. Governor Surjit Singh Barnala will preside over the function. Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam will announce the endowment prizes and release the university publications. Abhijit Sen, Member, Planning Commission, Government of India, will be the chief guest, the release added. As many as 996 candidates (502 men and 494 women), who have completed their undergraduate, master’s and doctorate programmes, will receive degree certificates.
