KOCHI: Representatives of five federations of port and dock workers in the country, who met in New Delhi on Thursday, have decided to launch a nation-wide dock strike from July 16 seeking implementation of the agreement arrived at between port managements and the port workers’ federations. The decision to resort to the strike was taken after discussions between the federations’ representatives and Union Shipping Minister T.R. Baalu failed, said a communication here on Thursday. “Retrograde approach”The representatives viewed with grave concern a totally “negative and retrograde” approach adopted by the Ministry of Shipping, said the press release.
