TIRUVARUR: Over 2,500 athletes from various parts of the State will be participating in the 23rd Tamil Nadu inter-district junior athletics championship which begins at the District Stadium here on Friday. The three-day meet, organised by the Tiruvarur District Athletic Association, will be conducted in the under-20, 18, 16 and 14 categories for boys and girls. Forty eight athletes from the host district will take part in the meet which concludes on Sunday. District-level chessVBS Chess Academy will conduct a district-level tournament on July 12 and 13 at the Santa Maria Matriculation School, Crawford, Tiruchi. The tournament will be conducted in the under-19, 13, 10, 8 and 6 sections. Call N. Venkatraman at 98433-61122. Powerlifting meetThanjavur District Powerlifting Association will host the Tamil Nadu senior powerlifting championship for men and women at the Uma Maheswaranar College, Karandai, Thanjavur, on July 12 and 13.
