Prasana shines

TIRUCHI: J. Prasana Venkatesh’s five-wicket haul was the highlight Madurai’s nine-wicket win over Kanyakumari in a first round encounter of the Jaya Educational Trust Trophy inter-district under-16 cricket tournament here on Thursday.

The scores (first round): Kanyakumari 77 in 22.1 overs (J. Girish 47, J. Prasana Venkatesh five for nine) lost to Madurai 78 for one in 7.3 overs (Ateek Fazel 50).

Tirunelveli 144 for six in 30 overs (D. Jabeen Rahman 91) lost to Theni 147 for two in 26.1 overs (J. Arun Kanna 59 not out, K. Sujith Kanna 37)

Dharmapuri 48 in 20.5 overs (M. Hari Prasad three for 13) lost to Coimbatore 52 for no loss in 5.1 overs.

Ramanathapuram 98 in 23.1 overs (R.B. Aravind four for 14, Praveen Mano three for 30) lost to Puducherry 99 for two in 17.5 overs.
