BANGALORE: Baldwin Boys High School continued its winning streak in the Father Eric Vaz memorial inter-school hockey tournament for juniors with a thumping 5-1 victory over Sarla Birla Academy at the hockey stadium here on Thursday. Kanju Jam (4th & 29th), Anup (12th), Salman Sait (30th) and Kanet (44th) scored for the winner while Bharath (59th) scored a last-minute goal for Sarla Birla Academy. In the Centenary Shield for Seniors, St. Germain’s Boys High School edged past Sarla Birla Academy 2-1. St. Germain’s forged into the lead with Ashley Arwin (15th) and Sakaria John (33rd) striking once in each half. Parth Talaviya (56th) pulled one back for Sarla Birla. Earlier on Wednesday, Sarla Birla won both its matches. In the juniors’ section it beat St Joseph’s Boys High School ‘B’ 4-0 with Uthanga (4th and 43rd), D Bharath (10th) and Jay Talaviya (58th) scoring the goals. In the seniors’ section Sarla Birla had to fight hard to score a 3-2 victory over Vidya Shilp Academy. Parth Talaviya (15th), P. Gund (15th - pc and 47th) scored for Sarla Birla Academy while Nikhil (20th) and Mammen (43rd) shone in vain for Vidya Shilp. — Special Correspondent
