MADURAI: A history-sheeter, wanted in many police stations in connection with criminal offences, was killed by unidentified persons on Wednesday. Police sources said that Arjunan (32) of Kamarajapuram was found dead with severe injuries near the railway track at Keerathurai. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Arjunan had assaulted his accomplice Balamurugan with a weapon on Tuesday night near Kamarajapuram in an inebriated state and fled from the scene. Following this, Balamurugan was admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital. The police suspect rivalry between the gangsters. The modus operandi of Arjunan was to threaten women and take away their valuables under the cover of darkness.
