Congress workers go on token fast

Special Correspondent

SALEM: A section of Congress workers resorted to a day’s token fast here on Thursday to protest against the appointment of Salem MP K.V. Thankgabalu as the new Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president.

The members, led by general secretary, Salem East district Congress, K.M. Ulaganambi, said they would not accept the appointment of Mr. Thankgabalu as the party’s State president. They also said that they would soon write to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

They urged the Congress high command to replace him immediately.

A few who participated in the agitation had tonsured their heads to show their protest.
