Court seeks clarification on joint venture with APTransco

Legal Correspondent

Hyderabad: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice B. Prakasha Rao and Justice R. Kantha Rao on Thursday ordered notices in a writ petition filed challenging the G.O. issued by the State government directing the APTransco to enter into joint venture partnership with Online Media Solutions Limited (OMSL) for optic fibre-based infrastructure in A.P. The writ petition was filed by Timma Reddy on behalf of Peoples Monitoring Group on Electricity Regulations (PMGER).

The petitioner said that OMSL had submitted a forged bank guarantee and does not have minimum net worth of Rs. 225 crore.

It was averred that the OMSL cannot be entrusted with such an important project which will be a loss to the APTransco.

The bench asked APTransco to respond to the allegations and asked it to file counter and ordered notice to Power Grid Corporation. The case will be listed next Friday.
