Special Correspondent

The CPI has two members in the Assembly, including a nominated MLA

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has decided to continue its support to the Congress government in the Union Territory, though the Left parties have withdrawn support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre, according to N. Kalainathan, party secretary.

The CPI has two members in the Assembly, including a nominated MLA. Secretary of the CPI unit N. Kalainathan told reporters here that the party would back the Congress government.

Future course

Its future course would depend on the decision of the national council, the highest policy making body of the party, which would meet in the first week of next month.
