Local travel, tourism information included Business subscribers to get one-line free listing PUDUCHERRY: In little over seven months, residents of Puducherry are going to have the first multi-telecom and multi-colour commercial telephone directory. In addition to BSNL, the GETIT BizList will also include entries of other telecom service providers. Highlighting GETIT Infoservices’ plan to introduce the BizList in various cities and towns, its divisional manager Suresh Kumaar on Thursday said around 50,000 free copies and CDs, with as many as 80,000 entries, would be bought out in February 2009. The directory, with several user-friendly features, would be published every year. According to him, every business telephone subscriber irrespective of from all the telecom service providers including the public sector BSNL will would get a one-line free listing in the GETIT BizList. The book would have ‘City Information’ pages on public utility services and emergency services, in addition to a guide on local travel and tourism information. The book would also contain the list of STD and ISD codes, PIN codes as well as details of trade fairs and exhibitions in chronological order.Logos, strip advertisements and colour inserts and listings in alphabetical order were among the significant features. “In a city like Puducherry, where every customer knows whom to contact, but does not have the contact, a directory like BizList will change the way we do business hereafter,” Mr. Kumaar said. Similar directories had already been brought out in Ernakulam, Coimbatore, Thrissur, Bangalore, Mangalore and Mysore, he said, adding that Chennaiites would have it by October. It would come out in Madurai in November and in Tiruchi by December. The directory would be distributed free of cost to all business houses, offices, showrooms and prime residential areas in the cities and rural areas, Mr. Kumar said. It would be available for reference in all hotel rooms, airport lounges, export-import councils, business centres and trade associations. , he added.
