Blazing knock by Thiruselvam

Karaikudi: Thiruselvam’s unbeaten 74-ball 147 (14x4, 8x6) helped Sri Vaari Groups Cricket Club defeat Karaikudi Town Cricket Club by 115 runs in the Optra Computers Trophy State-level Twenty-20 cricket tournament at Karaikudi on Thursday.

The scores: Sri Vaari groups CC 217 for two in 20 overs (Thiruselvam 147 not out) bt Karaikudi Town CC 102 for eight in 20 overs (Sangeerthanan four for 10); Moonlight CC 65 in 17.5 overs (Naguleswaran five for eight) lost to Devakottai CC 67 for two in 9.3 overs; Knights CC 157 in 19.2 overs (Ramesh 42) bt SDCA Secretary’s XI 83 in 17 overs; Sachin Bosos CC 186 for four in 20 overs (T. Prabakaran 93, Sivakumar 55) bt Big Birds Brindavan CC 128 for seven in 20 overs.

Nethaji SC in last four

Nethaji Sports Club, Chennai, entered the semifinals of the KKAD Chidhambara Nadar memorial Trophy State-level football tournament organised by the Sattur Town FC with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Sun Sports Club, Dindigul, at SHN Edward HSS ground, Sattur on Thursday.

Kamesh, Naresh (penalty), Kumaresan and Balavanathan scored.

Chess tournaments

Sree Jayajothi Cements 21st Tamil Nadu State under-13 chess champions for Dolphin trophies will be organised by Virudhunagar District Chess Association, at Kamarajar Kalyana Mandapam, Rajapalayam from August 7 to 13.
