Financial assistance distributed

SALEM: People and government officials should have coordinated efforts to make the welfare schemes of the government successful, said Collector N. Mathivanan here.

Participating at the special grievances day meeting at Muthampatti village in Vazhapadi block on Wednesday, the Collector said that government schemes should reach the needy without any delay.

The officers concerned of various departments in the administration must also coordinate their efforts. He said that special meetings were organised in villages to make the people utilise the opportunity of meeting officials of departments in their villages.

The villagers need not come to collectorate at Salem for any grievances. He also distributed Rs 10 lakh worth of schemes to 268 beneficiaries.

Six persons received Rs2.24 lakh worth house pattas and 5 received old age pension. Grievances of agriculture labourers, widows, Adi dravidars, destitute women, those applied for caste certificates etc were redressed.

At the O. Rajapalayam village, Namakkal Collector U. Sahayam conducted the special grievances day in which he distributed Rs 7.06 worth welfare schemes to 156 villagers.

While addressing the villagers the collector said that government was executing various welfare schemes.

A photo exhibition also was organised to make the villagers aware of various schemes of the government. He said that people cold contact the District administration at any time to get their grievances redressed.

He was optimistic that all officials would approach the people humanely when they would approach them with grievances.

He also urged the officials to explain the people the reason for rejecting any of their requests so that they could understand and realise the issue. Every citizen in grass root level should also be befitted, he insisted.

District Revenue Officer K. Govindaraj and others participated.
