JAIPUR: The first “arbitration centre” of Rajasthan has been set up in Jodhpur to provide litigants with an alternative system of dispute resolution. Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Narain Roy inaugurated the centre. Mr. Justice Roy, who also released an action plan calendar on the occasion, said an institutional arrangement for arbitration proceedings was the need of the hour in view of a huge backlog of undecided cases in the courts. “Arbitration is the best method of alternative dispute resolution,” he said. The Chief Justice said arbitration ensured speedy and inexpensive disposal of cases with full transparency through conciliation between the two parties. He expressed hope that the new centre would especially help settle matrimonial, family and property disputes. The State Legal Services Authority has established the centre. The Authority’s chairperson, Justice Gyansudha Mishra of the Rajasthan High Court, said the success of the arbitration centre would give a new direction to judicial procedure in the State.
