This Day That Age
The Yugoslav and United Arab Republic Presidents, President Tito and President Nasser in a communique issued in Pula (Yugoslavia) on July 10, called for “necessary steps to end the cold war and the arms race and the division of the world into two antagonistic blocs.” They condemned “foreign domination, interference by some countries in the internal affairs of other countries, and the use of pressure or force by any country against any other.” The communiqué added that the principles and the points of view presented in the Brioni Declaration of July 1956 had been confirmed by experience in harmony with the interests of the two countries and that it was clear that they had contributed to the desire for peace in the world. The two Presidents also agreed that their Governments should hold “occasional consultations on questions of common interest which are of importance for the consolidation of peace in the world and he furtherance of international co-operation.”
