‘Freedom fighters should be accorded top priority’

Collector U. Sagayam speaking at the grievances redressal day meeting in Nam-akkal on Thursday.
NAMAKKAL: Collector U. Sagayam has instructed the officials to accord top priority to redress the grievances of the freedom fighters in the district.
Humane approach
Participating at the grievances redressal day meeting held here on Thursday, the Collector asked the officials to adopt a humane approach while attending to the needs of the freedom fighters.
The district administration would extend all necessary assistance to the freedom fighters for their better living. There would not be any delays in extending assistance to them, he added.
Free house sites
He advised the officials to initiate efforts to provide free house sites immediately after receiving petitions from the people.
He also received petitions from the participants.
Mr. Sagayam directed the officials concerned to provide a sewing machine to the granddaughter of a freedom fighter.
District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj, PA to Collector (General) Manickam and senior officials were present in the meeting.
