Long overdue: South Western Railway employees protesting in front of the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office in Mysore on Friday. MYSORE: Members of South Western Railway Mazdoor Sangha held a demonstration in front of the office of Divisional Manager, Railways, here on Friday, urging the Government to fulfil their long-pending demands. They have demanded introducing 12 per cent Dearness Allowance with effect from January 2006, while calculating fixation of basic and setting right the disparity in pay structure recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission. They have also urged the Government to fulfil their other demands, which includes the appointment of a high power committee to look into and review the working hours of running staff and to ensure their safety and security, payment of differences of arrears of bonus, stopping of privatisation of important posts and services inside Railways and immediate recruitment and filling up of vacant posts in various departments in all categories. They have also appealed against surrendering of posts and demanded for early implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission.
