VISAKHAPATNAM: Union Minister for Forests and Environment R. Raghupathi has assured M. Babu Rao, Bhadrachalam MP of the CPI (M) that the public hearing on the Anrak Alumina Limited’s alumina plant, aluminium refinery and cogeneration plant in Makavarapalem mandal of the district will be held again, if necessary. This assurance was given to Dr. Babu Rao during a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry in New Delhi on Thursday, the CPI (M) district secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao said at a press conference here on Friday. Dr. Babu Rao complained in a letter during the issue at the meeting, presided over by the Chairman of the Committee Namonarayana Meena, highlighting nine discrepancies during the public hearing held at Rachapalli on June 7 and also raised objections over construction of a wide road from Jerrela in the Visakha Agency area for transporting the bauxite ore to the plant without taking permission from the Forest Department.
