No need to file affidavit: court

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Counsel for former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday informed the Madras High Court that a Superintendent of Police deputed for the purpose of assessing the security arrangements provided to her as per a court order, could meet Ms. Jayalalithaa after she returns from Kodanad. Justice M. Jaichandren on Wednesday had directed counsel to file an affidavit seeking a direction to the officer concerned to meet her at the Kodanad Estate where she is staying.

However, Ms. Jayalalithaa’s counsel A. Navaneethakrishnan on Friday said the officer could meet after she returns to the city. Following this, the court said he need not file the affidavit.

The court had earlier directed the government to file an affidavit for seeking extension of time to enable the officer to meet her at her residence at Poes Garden here.
