Rahul Gandhi coming on July 27

HYDERABAD: All-India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi will attend a day-long session of the Indian Youth Congress’s ambitious ‘Aam Admi Ke Sipahi’ (Commonman’s soldier) programme here on July 27.

Hyderabad has been selected for the ‘training the trainers’ programme.

Over 1,500 Youth Congress office-bearers will attend the workshop beginning on July 23.

The five-day residential training includes two days of classroom teaching followed by two days of field visit and a day-long group discussion.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi will formally launch the programme on August 9. ‘Aam Admi Ke Sipahi’ envisages identification of two active Youth Congress workers in each village, who would be assigned the task of helping out rural people in accessing the benefits accruing from the welfare programmes.

State Youth Congress president T.J.R. Sudhakar Babu told The Hindu on Friday that the delegates would be divided into 30 teams and sent to the districts to see the implementation of welfare and developmental programme of the Congress Government.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi will participate on the last day of the training programme and interact with the participants.

Care has been taken to include classes on implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) and the Right to Information Act.

Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Medak, Chittoor, Anantapur, Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur and Krishna districts have been selected for the first phase.
