Lanka seeks change in dates
COLOMBO: Sri Lanka is negotiating with the England and Wales Cricket Board for a possible change in dates for next year’s series amid a standoff with its players over the timing of the tour.
“We are negotiating to try and alter the dates to be able to send our best team to England,” Sri Lanka Cricket spokesman Shane Fernando said on Friday.
Sri Lanka agreed earlier this week to tour England in place of Zimbabwe next May for a series comprising two Tests and three limited-overs internationals, but players have complained that the timing of the matches would cause them to miss most of the lucrative IPL Twenty20 competition. — AP
