Woman among 4 held for extortion racket
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Four persons, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly running an extortion racket under the guise of a news agency.
According to the police, a South Delhi resident befriended a 20-year-old woman, who introduced herself as Nisha, on the cell phone. On July 1, Nisha invited him to Dabri and offered liquor. The two then made love and the act was secretly filmed by one of the woman’s friends as per a plan. On July 4, Nisha again invited him to a hotel and demanded Rs.10 lakh from him after showing the video.
He reported the matter to the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch and the police asked him to invite the woman and her accomplice to a hotel on the pretext of collecting the money. A trap was laid and the accused were arrested. They were later identified as Brijesh, Raj Kumar, Neeraj and Vandana. The four ran a news agency called News India and Reporter’s Eyes and extorted money by making video films of victims in compromising position with their woman accomplice, the police said.
