Duty free outlet to expand shopping area

A Correspondent

Nedumbassery: The Cochin Duty Free (CDF), the cluster of duty free shops inside the international terminal of the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), is all set to expand its shopping area with a new 5,000 sq ft shop space in the new international departure block that will get completed soon.

According to a statement issued by the CIAL, the CDF has registered a 44 percentage growth in revenue during the last fiscal compared to the previous year’s turnover, netting Rs.42 crore from sales. The CDF, which currently accounts for 30 per cent of the CIAL’s annual revenue, is targeting a Rs 14.5-crore increase in sales for the present fiscal.

To boost its sales in view of the huge passenger flow from West Asia coming for the vacation this month, the CDF has launched a number of supplier-wise promotional schemes.

The duty free shop has branched out beyond alcohol, tobacco and fragrances to now sells a variety of items.
