PUDUCHERRY: A training programme with the objective of maximising the human potential was held by the Puducherry chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry on July 10. The main thrust of the meet titled, “Empower Leadership Programme” was to understand the psychology of peak performance, the CII said in a release. The meet targeted at executives, shop floor supervisors and middle as well as junior level managers. Over 50 persons from Puducherry and Tamil Nadu participated in the day-long programme which was conducted by Ashraf, Director of Life Academy, a Chennai-based life-skills training organisation, the release added. Chairman of the Puducherry CII Sriram Subramanya, who spoke at the inaugural session, stressed the need for good leadership skills. Such meets would enable the participants to learn powerful leadership principles and success strategies, he said. The training was based on the principle of “experimental learning” using modern scientific techniques such as neuro linguistic programming, he pointed out. A good leader must be a visionary, besides being inspirational, influential and trustworthy. Above all, he must be aware of and understand each individual’s abilities, limitations and motives, he said. The participants were taken through sessions including ‘leadership attitude and behaviour’, ‘psychology of peak performance’, ‘mechanics of motivation’, ‘modelling success strategies’, ‘creative problem solving’, ‘tools for team building’ and ‘time targets and priority focus’, the CII release said.
