Demand for increase in J&K Haj quota

Srinagar: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir has appealed to the Centre to increase the quota of Haj pilgrims from the State as the present allocation was not in proportion to the population.

“The quota of 6,228 for the State is disproportionate to the population. I have requested Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahmed to increase it by 5,000,” Bashiruddin Ahmad said in a statement here.
