Dharwad APMC chief loses trust vote

DHARWAD: President of the Dharwad Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) N.D. Bhosle lost a no-confidence motion moved against him during a special meeting here on Saturday.

Vice-president of the APMC Kalmesh Haveripet had moved the motion against Mr. Bhosle which was seconded by Dipak Chinchore and Konappa Iliger.

Mr. Bhosle was not present at the meeting when voting on the no-confidence motion was taken up. Only 10 members of the 17-member APMC were present at the meeting.

All the 10 members, including the three members nominated by the Government, voted in favour of the motion. APMC secretary T.P. Gayaitri said that the no-confidence motion against Mr. Bhosle had been accepted and announced that Mr. Kalmesh Haveripet would be the in-charge president until the new president was elected.

This is the third time in the last three years that no-confidence motion has been moved against the APMC president.
