WORDS OF ConsoLATION: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan visits the mother of slain DYFI leader K.U. Biju at Kodungalloor on Saturday. THRISSUR: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said there were no lapses in policing during the recent violence in Kodungalloor.He told media persons while visiting Kodungalloor on Saturday that a police control room and an office of Circle Inspector would be opened in a month in Kodungalloor to bring back normalcy. “Political parties should keep away from violence. The activities of the district and thaluk-level peace committees should be expanded,” the minister said. As many as 48 people were arrested in connection with different incidents of violence. Investigation would be done into the attack on media offices, he said. He consoled the family members of DYFI Kodungallur block committee vice-president and Municipal committee secretary K.U. Biju, who was killed by suspected BJP activists. Violence hit Kodungalloor after the attack on Biju on July 30. He succumbed to injuries on July 2. Hartals called separately by various political parties hit normal life for three consecutive days.
