Ex-engineer gets RI
BANGALORE: The Raichur District and Sessions Judge convicted a former Junior Engineer in the Irrigation Department for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income in 1987. M. Siddalingaiah was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment of one year and three months and pay a fine of Rs. 15,000. Siddalingaiah, who was working at Waddarahalli camp in Gangavati taluk, was accused of possessing assets which were 300 per cent more than his known sources of income. This case registered in July 1987 was one of the oldest disproportionate assets cases pending before the courts. — Staff Reporter
