Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Srinivas said the party presently planned to increase its membership from the present 34 lakh to 50 lakh by 2010. He said membership books had already been despatched to the district units. The DCC and the City Congress Committee presidents would be given ten membership books each. Mr. Srinivas said the drive was unique in that all the data would be updated on a weekly basis and readily accessible to the AICC. The membership pro forma had already been uploaded on the APCC website: www.apcongress.org. User-friendlyThe pro forma was user-friendly, hence it can be easily downloaded to feed the basic data at the lower level committee and compatible to update. The membership drive database would automatically form into a standard register of the enrolled members that could be used for future needs. The drive would start in all district headquarters on July 21 and in mandal headquarters from July 28. He said there was no change in the tour programme of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to Nellore and Ongole on July 17.
