PUDUCHERRY: With different forms of untouchability such as the two-tumbler system and denial of entry to temples and streets still prevailing in some villages of Tamil Nadu, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will revive the spirit of the Vaikkom Satyagraha to protect the rights of the Dalits. DYFI Tamil Nadu unit secretary S. Kannan told The Hindu here on Saturday that the State conference of the organisation, to be held at Villupuram from September 27 to 29, would focus on this issue, besides employment with social security, education and health in rural areas. To start with, the DYFI would stage a protest on August 15 in three villages in Namakkal district and four villages in Sivaganga district where, he said, several forms of discrimination were being practised.
